12 Hour Train Ride
It took twelve hours to get from Trier to Oberstdorf thanks to a pitstop in Freiburg for a football jersey and multiple train delays. Since I was too late for the bus to the hostel, I was forced to hike five miles in the rain. It's good to be alive!

Trier
Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany and was for some time a Roman city. The Porta Nigra (a town gate), the ampitheatre, and the baths were nice to see.
Tomorrow we're off to see the Bavarian Alps.

Burg Eltz
On the way to Trier, we stopped at Moselkern and hiked to Burg Eltz. It was about a three mile hike through the town and woods, but was pretty nice. The castle was beautiful and has a very impressive collection of weapons and treasure.
