After a strange night of alarms, beer, blood, and piss (you'll just have to ask me) I got up at 3:30AM (or got woken up, more than woken up) to catch a train to Berchtesgaden.

I literally ran up to this view, because I had to catch a bus back to the city. My time was very limited in Berchtesgaden, because it was 3.5 hours from Munich, and also because my connecting train to Freilassing was late, which knocked off a whole hour of exploring. |

Berchtesgaden Hauptbahnhof |
Climbing the Eagle's Nest...on bus. |
Entrance to the tunnel that leads to the elevator. |
Kehlsteinhaus. It is surreal finally getting here and just seeing it like it is so normal. |
So high up there is snow in June. |
Unfortunately it is a restaurant now. Annoying. |
It was so cold in this tunnel, and the walls were wet. |
After the Eagle's Nest, I ran (literally again) through the city trying to see as much as I could. |
I had to run back to the Hauptbahnhof to catch my train. Glad I made it back in time! |

I thought that Mom would like the horses! |

I thought I had reached the train that would go back to Munich... nope! The train stopped in the middle of nowhere, everyone got off and started walking towards busses that said some word I had never seen. I just got on the bus and asked someone "Munich" and I got a kinda yes answer. So I just went with it. Then the buses took us to another train that said Salzburg (Austria). It finally changed its destination to Munich....whew! But then the train waited at the stop for a good 30-45 minutes, while I was counting every minute so that I could get back to Munich by 7:30 to catch my bus for Freiburg. |
So relieved when it finally took off! |
Literally ran from the Hauptbahnhof to the ZOB to catch my bus. I thought I would be stuck in Munich for the night. I also thought that I might get rejected on the bus, since I had reserved a seat for the 5:30 one instead of the 7:30 one. Luckily the ticket checker didn't catch the difference or felt bad for an English speaker. I was so glad when the bus took off and no one tried to sit in "my" reserved seat. It was a crazy day of traveling...and only worth it because I got to go to Berchtesgaden. |
Time-table for my train ride. Too bad it was late and lost me an hour in Berchtesgaden. |
