Like Sachsenhausen, Dachau was also a very informative experience. One of the biggest differences was that it was not liberated by the Russians. At Sachsenhausen, there was a lot of history behind what the Russians did to the camp after it was liberated (I remember the Russian shrine, in particular). Dachau was liberated by the Americans, and not much was said about it.
The shape of Dachau was rectangular, while Sachsenhausen was in a triangular shape.

Gas chambers, although they said they were not used. Need to do more research on the topic. |

There are two triangles missing from the memorial, one for homosexuals and one for the gypsies. At the time of the construction of this memorial, there was still a strong resentment. There are other memorials up now for those populations. There was a similar prejudice at Sachsenhausen, which was also discussed when I was there. |
