Egyptian Exhibits and the German History Museum

One of the biggest museums on Museum Island (Neues Museum) is currently hosting a large Egyptian exhibit. I thought it was interesting, but not as good as the German History Museum. The German History Museum was very large and unfortunately I did not have time to stop and read a lot about each time period. However, I did get to see many interesting artifacts.

This is a tomb of an ancient European (I forget where exactly.) The museum was saying that the Egyptian tombs (see below) are more elaborate and technologically advanced because so was their society as a whole at the time. The Egyptians had a very organized hierarchical structure at a very early time in history.

This shield was very big. We were interested in discussing whether or not one person could have carried it. See below for the handle in the back.

Ivory-decorated saddles. Uncomfortable if they were actual used for riding.

This was very interesting. Description is below.

Opens up after someone is stabbed.

First x-ray machine.

WW1 era I believe.
